The Sisters of Divine Providence — Marie de la Roche Province — celebrated with Sister Judith Connor as she professed final vows last November in the chapel of Sacred Heart High School in Kingston. Sister Judith teaches religious studies to 7th and 9th grade students. A native of Fair Haven, N.J., she worked in ministry with the sisters in Kingston as a live-in volunteer for 18 months before she entered the community as an affiliate in 1999. When asked what advice she would give women who are contemplating religious life, Sister Judith was quick to reply, “Be a risk taker. You will never know if the life is for you unless you are willing to take that initial risk. Use the resources that are out there to find out about different communities. Contact them, talk to people and take advantage of the discernment opportunities they offer. Religious life can be rich and fulfilling as well as a highly effective means for serving the kingdom of God. But unless you are willing to go out on that limb, you will never know.” Sister Judith earned a bachelor’s degree in sociology from the University of South Carolina and a master’s in religious education from Boston College.
