On Sept. 8, 2016 a newly translated Rite for Marriage may be used in the Roman Catholic Church in the United States. On Dec. 30, 2016, the Feast of the Holy Family, it will become the only official, and therefore required, ritual for Catholic marriages in our nation. The title of the new liturgical book will be "Order of Celebrating Matrimony."

Bishops, priests, deacons, marriage coordinators, those who assist in parishes with the preparation of couples for marriage and for the liturgical celebration of their marriage, liturgical musicians are invited to a workshop being sponsored here in the archdiocese by the Federation of Diocesan Liturgical Commissions.

Father Jonathan Gaspar, director of the Office for Divine Worship in the archdiocese said "We are offering the same workshop on two separate days, one on May 16 and another on May 17, both at St. Julia Parish in Weston. This day-long workshop will cover all of the information that people will need to familiarize themselves with the changes so that we will be prepared for implementation later this year. We have outstanding presenters coming: Msgr. Richard Hilgartner is the president of the National Association of Pastoral Musicians and Ms. Rita Thiron is the executive director of the Federation of Diocesan Liturgical Commissions.
