Two added to the Catholic Foundation board

At its annual meeting on Nov. 5, the members of The Catholic Foundation board elected R. Stephen Barrett of Natick and Kevin Gill of Hingham to join them in their work of helping to secure funding for the many ministries of the Archdiocese of Boston.
Cardinal Seán P. O’Malley welcomed the men to their new posts.
“It is a joy to welcome Steve Barrett and Kevin Gill to the Catholic Foundation Board. Like their fellow board members, they are making a difference in our Church’s ability to carry out its mission,” the cardinal said.
“Steve and Kevin bring considerable business leadership experience and dedication to supporting their parishes and the many central ministries of the archdiocese. I look forward to working with them in their new roles,” he added.
Steve Barrett of Natick is the President of Barrett Advisory, a strategic and operational consulting firm.
Earlier in his career, Barrett served as Chief Financial Officer for Whirlpool Corporation, for Procter and Gamble’s Fabric and Home Care Sector and for Procter and Gamble’s Europe, Middle East and Asia operations.
Barrett was also recently asked by Cardinal Seán O’Malley to co-chair the Improved Financial Relationship Committee, which seeks to improve the model of support between parishes and central ministries of the archdiocese.
Barrett and his wife, Ruth, are parishioners at St. Patrick Parish in Natick. They have been married for 32 years and have five children.
“This is a time of great challenge and hope in our society, and the needs of Boston-area Catholics and our communities continue to grow. Having the right strategies and financial resources to meet these needs is key to advancing the mission of the Church. I am honored and humbled to be joining the board of The Catholic Foundation, and to be engaged in this important work,” he said.
Kevin Gill of Hingham is the president and founder of McCusker-Gill, a leading commercial HVAC design and contracting firm, with over 150 employees and estimated annual sales of more than $15 million.
Gill and his wife, Rita, are parishioners and leaders at St. Paul Parish in Hingham, where they co-chaired the Promise of Tomorrow campaign and provided lead support on a recent effort to air-condition the lower Church. On an archdiocesan-level Gill has helped organize and establish the Cardinal’s Leadership Circle, the major gift society for the Catholic Appeal.
The Gills have been married for 23 years and have 6 children.
“I look forward to serving on the Board of The Catholic Foundation and helping Cardinal Sean and so many others who are contributing their time to the many ministries of the archdiocese,” Gill said.
Craig Gibson, board president of The Catholic Foundation, congratulated the new members on their election.
“On behalf of fellow board members, we are delighted to welcome Kevin and Steve as new TCF board members,” Gibson said.
“They have both been actively involved in the work of the archdiocese and have a clear sense of how The Catholic Foundation can help advance that mission. Kevin and Steve will add considerable talents to our diverse board group and will undoubtedly make a strong impact on advancing our efforts to provide financial support to the Church’s ministries, particularly in this challenging economic environment,” he said.
Scot Landry, Secretary for Institutional Advancement, added, “We thank Steve and Kevin for accepting their new appointments. Our Church is strengthened by their service, as it is by the service of thousands of men and women who seek to put their blessings and skills toward helping Cardinal Sean renew and strengthen the parishes, schools, agencies and central ministries of the Archdiocese of Boston.”
The Catholic Foundation was established in 1989, and exists to promote, facilitate, receive, administer and grow gifts of time, talent, treasure and prayer to support the mission of the Church in Boston. Since 2003, The Catholic Foundation has housed the development office of the Archdiocese of Boston. In that capacity, The Catholic Foundation board and staff are heavily involved in the annual Catholic Appeal campaign.
