NEW YORK (CNS) -- Here are some television program notes for the week of May 1 with their TV Parental Guidelines ratings if available. They have not been reviewed and therefore are not necessarily recommended by Catholic News Service.

Monday, May 2, 10-11:30 p.m. EDT (PBS) "Try Harder!" Filmmaker Debbie Lum's documentary takes viewers inside the competitive world of San Francisco's Lowell High School, one of the best public schools in the country. An "Independent Lens" presentation (TV-14 -- parents strongly cautioned).

Tuesday, May 3, 9-10 p.m. EDT (PBS) "Flood in the Desert." This episode of the series "American Experience" looks back at the 1928 Los Angeles dam collapse, a colossal and deadly engineering failure (TV-PG -- parental guidance suggested).
