The historic ordination of Archbishop-elect Paul Russell on Friday, June 3, 2016 will be celebrated at the Cathedral of the Holy Cross at 2:00 p.m. The archbishop-elect will be the first priest of the archdiocese ordained for service as a nuncio (ambassador) in the Holy See's diplomatic service.

Another piece of history will also be made; he will be the first bishop to receive all three of the orders -- deacon, presbyter and bishop -- of the Sacrament of Holy Orders at the Cathedral of the Holy Cross.

The faithful of the archdiocese are most welcome to join in the celebration of the ordination. While there will be reserved seating for ticketed guests, Cardinal O'Malley welcomes anyone who wishes to join him, Archbishop-elect Russell's invited guests; and the bishops and priests concelebrating to the Ordination Mass.

Entrance to the cathedral will be at the Main Entrance on Washington Street in Boston's South End.
