Deacon Spadoni named Covenant Health VP of Mission Integration

TEWKSBURY -- Deacon Reynold G. Spadoni has been named vice president of Mission Integration for Covenant Health. In this leadership position, he will be responsible for integrating Covenant's mission and values into all aspects of the system and work. Deacon Spadoni is charged with the responsibility of developing and implementing meaningful mission integration strategies, initiatives and formation programs across the Covenant system and will provide guidance for leadership and staff on a wide variety of mission, pastoral and ethical issues.

Deacon Spadoni brings to this position extensive executive healthcare management experience and a true understanding of Catholic identity and Mission derived from his many years of service as a permanent deacon. He also comes to Covenant Health with a working knowledge of the system having served as a member of the Executive Committee of Covenant Health Systems from 1997-1999.

In 2004, Deacon Spadoni was ordained as a permanent deacon by the Archdiocese of Boston following successful completion of a diaconate formation program. This training included coursework taught by the St. John's seminary faculty, guided retreats, spiritual direction and periodic formation workshops on a variety of theological and pastoral ministry related topics. He is presently assigned as a Global Fellow to Catholic Relief Services and serves as a resource to the archdiocese on issues pertaining to the pastoral response to domestic abuse. Deacon Spadoni has led retreats to seminarians and parishioners throughout the Archdiocese of Boston and has also served as a member of the Diaconate Review Board which interviews and recommends candidates for ordination to Cardinal Seán P. O'Malley.

In addition to his ministry, Spadoni has worked in a variety of healthcare settings, both large and small, on the provider and payer sides, and has amassed great insight into the complexity and evolving state of the industry. He comes to Covenant most recently from his tenure as president of Partners HealthCare at Home, a position he assumed after his appointment as president and chief executive officer of the Visiting Nurse Association of Boston and Affiliates.
