Catholic school graduate receives Fulbright Scholarship

HINGHAM -- The Fulbright Program has granted Notre Dame Academy class of 2007 alumna Rupita Chakraborty the Fulbright Scholarship for the 2011-2012 academic year.

For her study, Chakraborty heads off to teach English at a private boarding school in Samarinda Seberang, Indonesia. Originally from Bridgewater, the 2011 graduate of George Washington University -- with a B.A. major in international affairs and minor in journalism -- hopes to attend law school to focus on international law or criminal law.

Senator William J. Fulbright established the competitive, merit-based Fulbright Program in 1946 to promote cultural understanding between people of the United States and people from elsewhere in the world.
