BOSTON — Archbishop Seán P. O’Malley will participate in a panel presentation on educating youth entitled “Society? Church?: It’s a question of education” at Faneuil Hall on Jan. 14 at 4:00 p.m. The event is sponsored by Communion and Liberation, a Catholic lay movement, and will address “one of the most serious crises confronting us all today: the capacity of a generation of adults to educate their own children,” according to a CL statement released on Dec. 30.

Schools, universities and the media have downplayed the importance of history and denied “the hope for a positive meaning to life.” The result is a generation of young people who are led by “fashions and power.” They are filled with uncertainties as children of a culture “that has demolished the conditions and the environments of education: family, school and church,” the statement said.

“Join us as we face this crisis in education and take up our responsibility for our children and the future of our society,” the release added.

Joining the archbishop on the panel will be U.S. leader of the Communion and Liberation movement Msgr. Lorenzo Albacete, Georgetown Visitation Preparatory School teacher Father Jose Medina, and senior editor for The New Yorker Hendrik Hertzberg.

The event is free and open to the public. For more information call the CL’s national office at 212-337-3580 or visit their website at www.CLOnline.org.
