A Massachusetts native, with his younger brother Jacob, a son of John and Ana (Barbosa) Batista. He is married to Jamie Lee (Whiteway) Batista, and they are the parents of Dean and Rose, all parishioners at St. Matthew the Evangelist Parish in Billerica. He was raised in Malden and attended Maplewood Elementary and Salemwood Middle schools before his secondary education at Malden Catholic. He graduated from Merrimack College, North Andover, with a BA in 2010, and from St. Joseph College, Standish, Maine, in 2019. His career path has been in Catholic secondary schools, serving variously as a teacher, campus minister, or department head, beginning at Cardinal Spellman, Brockton; returning to his alma mater, Malden Catholic; then to Austin Prep, Reading; and currently at Central Catholic, Lawrence. During his diaconal formation, he has served in his home parish; in hospital chaplaincy at Lowell General Hospital, Lowell; and at St. Mary and St. John the Evangelist, both in Chelmsford, and St. Margaret of Scotland, Lowell.
