CYO basketball championship tournament results

In March the 2014 CYO Championship Basketball Tournament began with teams of boys and girls from parishes and schools competing throughout the Archdiocese of Boston.

During the first three weekends of March, qualifying parish and school teams competed for the Archdiocesan Title. Nine teams took championship games on the weekend of March 15 and 16, as they secured a berth at the New England CYO tournament hosted this year by the Diocese of Providence.

The archdiocesan winners in the grades 5-6 and grades 7-8, parish and school, boys and girls teams, and a parish high school boys teams qualified for the New England tournament.

The champions from the Archdiocesan Tournament will represent the Archdiocese of Boston in the New England CYO Tournament. This year the Diocese of Providence, R.I. will host the New England tournament on March 28, 29 and 30.

JUNIOR BOYS:

St. Raphael, Medford defeated Gate of Heaven, SB 53-50

HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS:

St. Ann, Dorchester defeated St. Margaret Mary, Westwood 46-30

Winners listed below advance to the New England CYO tournament in Providence, R.I.

BANTAM BOYS:

St. Agatha, Milton defeated St. Mary, Winchester 52-48

BANTAM GIRLS:

St. Denis, Westwood defeated St. Ann, Dorchester 35-12

CADET GIRLS:

Immaculate Conception, Revere defeated OLA, Lynnfield 48-38

CADET BOYS:

St. Raphael, Medford defeated St. Mary, Winchester 61-57

5th and 6th GRAMMAR SCHOOL GIRLS:

St. Charles Woburn defeated St. Agatha, Milton 23-16

5th and 6th GRAMMAR SCHOOL BOYS

Blessed Sacrament, Walpole defeated St. Anthony, Everett 47-29

7th and 8th GRAMMAR SCHOOL GIRLS:

Holy Family, Rockland defeated OLA, Lynnfield 28-27

7th and 8th GRAMMAR SCHOOL BOYS:

Trinity Catholic, Brockton defeated St. Francis Xavier, Weymouth 60-37

INTERMEDIATE BOYS:

St. Mary, Franklin defeated St. Catherine, Norwood 61-34.
