DORCHESTER -- Caritas Labouré College recently awarded the Labouré Medal to Knights of Malta John A. Kaneb, John V. McManmon, Jr. and James F. O’Connor for their exemplary service as past area chairs for the Order of Malta, Boston. The medals were presented by Cardinal Seán P. O’Malley and college president, Joseph W. McNabb during a dinner held May 30 at the Seaport Hotel Lighthouse. The medal is awarded to those who champion the cause of the poor, the infirm, and the hungry with integrity and commitment in the spirit of St. Catherine Labouré.

The college also celebrated the 10-year anniversary of the Labouré Malta Fund, established by honoree John V. McManmon, Jr. Each year the fund enables two Labouré College nursing students to go on pilgrimage with the American Association of the Order of Malta to the Shrine of Our Lady in Lourdes, France.

The college prepares women and men for careers in nursing and allied health care and is affiliated with Caritas Christi Health Care.
