Archdiocesan Thanksgiving Day football round-up
Amid downpours of rain the CM Knights emerged victorious with a 7-6 victory on Thanksgiving Eve at Boston College’s Alumni Stadium. The victory was similar to last year’s CM win (34-33) and begins a two-year winning streak, after snapping a 12-year losing streak to the Eagles last year. Prior to the game, BC High Coach Jim Cotter was greeted by captains from teams past and presented a Special Recognition Award from CM’s Jim O’Connor and Alex Campea. He also posed for photos with family and friends. Shortly after the season got underway, Cotter announced he would step down as head coach after 41 years. The Knights, led by first-year coach Alex Campea had a great season with an overall record of 8-2. A tough loss to Xaverian on Nov. 12 by a score of 25-7 eliminated the team’s chance to win the Catholic Conference title and a playoff berth. The Eagles lost their first four games, then won the next four. They end the season at 4-7.
