First Friday Service, Hanover
From May through October, First Friday of the Sacred Heart Devotions will take place at Portiuncula Chapel, Cardinal Cushing Centers, 405 Washington Street, from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. It includes adoration and benediction of the Blessed Sacrament, Chaplet of Divine Mercy, and recitation of the rosary, followed by the Stations of the Cross. Summer Fiesta, Holliston
Boston-area prayer groups and their families will gather at Fatima Shrine, 101 Summer Street, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. They will enjoy cookout food, games, and music in many languages. All are invited to bring a favorite ethnic dish to share and your lawn chairs so you can relax and enjoy the summer setting. The public is welcome to this free event, sponsored by the Charismatic Renewal Services of the Boston Archdiocese. Outdoor Mass, Hanover
The Annual Outdoor Mass to honor Our Lady of the Angels will be held at Cardinal Cushing Centers, 405 Washington Street (Route 53), at 6:30 p.m., with Father Christopher Hickey as the celebrant. The afternoon starts at 3:00 p.m. with eucharistic adoration and prayers in the Portiuncula Chapel. In case of rain or extreme heat, Mass will be held at Our Lady of the Angels Church, 392 Hanover Street.
Healing Service, Duxbury
A Healing Service, led by Deacon Jack Sullivan, will take place in the chapel at Holy Family Church, 601 Tremont Street, on the third Friday of every month. The event will begin with Evening Prayer at 5:00 p.m., followed by Benediction before the Healing Service. In July 2009, Pope Benedict XVI announced that Deacon Jack’s sudden and remarkable healing from a crippling spinal injury -- after prayer for Cardinal John Henry Newman’s intercession -- was a miracle, which led to Cardinal Newman’s beatification in September 2010.
